Hi there,
Are you someone, or do you know someone, who has built an eco-house or made their home more sustainable and might like to open it to the public for a few hours one weekend this autumn?
Register your interest by filling in this short form:
Open Eco Homes Devon – Homeowner Expression of Interest Form: https://forms.gle/2aoM6KY9tKPkhim59
Events are taking place in:
- Moretonhampstead
- Bovey, Ilsington & Heathfield
- Newton Abbot, Teignmouth & Dawlish
- Chudleigh & Christow
- North Devon
- Ashburton, Dittisham & Cornworthy
- Plymouth
Open Eco Homes events give people the chance to visit real homes that have made energy-saving or ecological improvements – from insulation and retrofit projects to heat pumps, solar panels, natural building, rainwater harvesting, wildlife-friendly gardens and more. Visitors really value the chance to ask honest questions and hear directly from people who have actually gone through the process themselves.
You absolutely do not need a “perfect” eco-home. People are often most inspired by practical homes similar to their own, including partial retrofits, ongoing projects and simple low-cost improvements.

The event weekends across Devon will run between 12 September and 11 October 2026, and we’ll work with hosts to find timings that suit them.
Here are some comments from previous Open Eco Homes events in Totnes:
“There is something so heartwarming about this weekend. Everyone cares about the planet and is wanting to do something to help – all of the visitors were so friendly and appreciative.”
“What people are most interested in is the heat pump. There is so much misinformation out there. People want to hear what they’re really like from someone who actually has one.”
“People taking part in this weekend have all been so enthusiastic and friendly.”
Last year’s event included homes showcasing:
- retrofit insulation and glazing
- Passivhaus design
- heat pumps
- solar panels and batteries
- natural building materials
- wildlife and rewilding projects
- low-energy renovations
and involved many meaningful conversations about practical ways to make homes warmer, lower-carbon and cheaper to run. It would be so great to have you involved.
Warm wishes,
Robin
