I am a retired science and maths teacher and was Principal of Dawlish Community College for 10 years and previously headteacher of St. James High School, Exeter. I have a lifelong interest in energy conservation and ecology.

I believe passionately in the overriding need to counter the effects of global heating and to protect our natural environment if we are to leave a world which is habitable, safe and attractive for our children and grandchildren.  Overwhelming scientific evidence is that we need to take much more immediate, focussed and determined action.  The declarations of climate emergency by councils and increasing public awareness and commitment are most heartening and deserve the fullest possible support.
