I was a dairy farmer for 25 years. In 1990 I retrained in conservation management and worked as a Teignbridge Senior Countryside Ranger for 15 years. I have been a cattle, sheep and wildlife farmer at Deer Park Farm in the beautiful Teign Valley for the last 19 years – but an overlap between this and being a Ranger means that I’m not quite as old as I sound!
Since 1990, I have been working to help the ecological and climate crises, providing free wildlife walks on the farm, chairing Bovey Climate Action, lobbying, campaigning – and, as a result of the recent Teignbridge Climate Declaration, working with Fuad Al Tawil, Andrew Shadrake and Penny Avant to set up ACTion on Climate in Teignbridge. I am enjoying the feeling of community and positive change that ACT is creating and multiplying!
