I am a clinical psychologist with 46 years experience in the NHS and independent practice. I’ve worked mainly in mental health but also other fields. I have always followed the best evidence based practice in therapy, supervision and as a trainer, never having left my scientific roots behind. For 24 years I held a voluntary post as chair of national standard setting and accreditation in my field of psychotherapy, and was briefly a government adviser. Since retirement I’ve been increasingly involved in climate change activities, driven by my lifelong commitment to caring for the wellbeing of others, nature and the planet. I’m discovering how much psychology has to offer in my work with ACT, in areas such as behaviour change, social and community psychology, communication and politics. At a practical level I volunteer regularly for my local environment group and I manage the community fridge.
