ACT responds to Teignbridge Local Plan consultation

The ACT coordinating group is preparing a response to the TDC Local Plan consultation.  We have prepared an initial draft response here.

Your input/comments are very much welcomed, please send these to fuad@actionclimateteignbridge.org

It is important that everyone responds to this consultation by the 15th June as the new Local Plan will shape development in Teignbridge for the next 20 years.  It is a key opportunity to demonstrate community support so the council is strengthened in its resolve to put Climate Change at the centre of everything it does.

We will share a final version before the consultation closes, you can use this or the current draft to help you prepare your own response.

    good morning,
I have read lots of your response to the Local Plan Consultation and am very impressed, I have two immediate concerns, and am not sure what to do or where to go….
    first
    section 6/13
Reuse and conversion of existing buildings in the countryside.
In Chudleigh we are having a number of high profile applications for change of use of, what are basically machine sheds/pole barns, they have earth bases and an area of roughly 250 sqm, so large. In the end they developers ask for 5 or more newbuilds on these sites. As they are agricultural buildings they are in sensitive areas, and are definitely not barn conversions!!!!!
How do we get a discussion going on that?
    second
    sect 7/5
    Equine development,
we have noticed in the kate brook valley as old farms are broken up amenity equine culture is introduced, I would say 30% of upper Kate brook valley (prime Horseshoe bat foraging area) is set over to intensive horses.
Damage to habitats I have noticed, but have no evidence for!
compaction of ground, very little grass, no hedges, fences only, horse dung is removed as where it falls no grass grows; strange as rotted manure is sort after by gardeners.
maybe it has something to do with recommended year round rotating worming, !!!including persistent mectins, poisonous to dung beetles and flies which are necessary to breakdown dung.
anyone with more knowledge please get in touch.
