Verges
Many WWs want to get involved with managing their local verges to benefit wildlife. If this is something you are keen to do then the first step is to find out who owns and manages the verge and seek permission.
Verges can be be managed by Devon County Council (DCC), Teignbridge District Council (TDC), local Parish Council or Devon Highways.
Asking your Parish Council is fairly straight forward and can be done by emailing your Parish Council clerk.
We are told DCC manage the majority of verges and so approching them is the next best step. Here is a guidance document from DCC about how you would contact them and next steps for managing a DCC verge along with their verge safety guidance.
If you find out that the verge is managed by TDC then please do get in touch with our coordinator who has direct links to the TDC Greenspaces team.
